How Does Personality Impact Your Health?
New research indicates certain personality traits may help predict whether or not a person will live into his or her 80’s, according to a recent article from TIME. The specific traits mentioned include optimism, conscientiousness, purpose, extraversion (which is not exclusive to extroverted individuals) and a lack of neuroticism. The story noted that some studies indicate, “the link between personality and longevity is as strong as intelligence or how much money you have, both of which are correlated with longer lifespans.” One professor quoted in the article called being organized and responsible “the best silver bullet we can hope for,” as it pertains to longevity.
