Is Healthy Halloween Candy Really a Good Idea?
Most people learn at a young age the unhealthy nature of over indulging when it comes to eating candy. Given that Halloween is the unofficial candy binging day on everyone’s calendar, it’s natural to wonder if it’s possible to enjoy candy without all the unhealthy downside. The Huffington Post recently consulted nutritionists regarding candy advertised as healthier options to traditional favorites. Their consensus was to opt for moderation among all candy, and look to get important nutrients from other foods. Still, there may be some wisdom in choosing between the lesser of two evils, so to speak. One nutritionist pointed out that: “Some candies have more protein and fiber coming from nuts or seeds, so my advice is to opt for that so blood sugar doesn’t spike as high.” Read more.
