NFL Tackles Mental Health Awareness with New Video Series
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the need for everyone to keep mental health top of mind has perhaps never been greater. The series features current and former players, who discuss some of their own personal struggles with mental health, as well as the longstanding stigma that exists among professional athletes. Popular former players, including Michael Robinson and Deion Sanders, have spoken out recently about the absence and importance of teammates sharing genuine affection with one another. As Dr. Nyaka NiiLampti, NFL Vice President of Wellness and Clinical Services, put it: “Traditionally, the emotions men are allowed to show are anger and happiness and nothing in between.” Read more.
